Kamusta halinsa Manilla! (hello from the Philippines!)
Well, we have finally made it to the Philippines.
It was wonderful to be able to talk with all of you for just a minute, and to hear how everyone is doing. And don't worry, we will be able talk on Christmas day.
It was quite an adventure, with lots of troubles along the way, but we are blessed from the Lord to finally be here.
So, I am going to tell you the story of how we got here.
So we wake up at 2:30 am in Utah, do a last minute check to weigh our bags, and we head off to the travel office at 3:30.
Then, we load our stuff on the bus, and we are about to head off when the worst possible thing happens, I can't find my wallet!! this is me on the inside (AHHHHHH!!?!?!?!?).
So I go tell the driver that I can't find it, and then I head to go to the gate to go get it, and figure out that the gate only opens when a vehicle comes up to it. So, my wonderful companion Sister Hussein climbs over the gate in her dress, and runs off to help look for it.
I on the other hand, was like no way jose am I climbing over that fence in a dress, so I waited a couple of minutes for them to pull up to the gate, and then I ran off. Let's just say that church shoes aren't made for running. I run all over where we had been, and nothing.
After 10 minutes we ran back to the bus, and I was so tired of it that I climbed over the fence in my skirt, and came back. The sweetest thing happened. When I came back on the bus, everyone asked if I found it, and when I said no they said, well we will have to pray harder. Then I found it. That is when I tried to call for the first time, and nothing happened.
Another tender mercy of the Lord happened. I only had cash, but someone in the bathroom had change for a $1 so I could call home through the pay phone.
Then, we head off to Salt Lake airport, and make it there by 5 am. Getting all of that luggage and all the checks was such a hassle, but we made it on the plane.
I was lucky enough to get a window seat, and was able to see all of the beautiful mountains for the last time for a little w
After two hours we made it to the LA airport, and just waited until 1:00. Then we headed off to Hong Kong. It was a 15 hour flight, and the only way that I can describe it was LONG. They had these really cool touch screen type things that allowed us to see where we were at. I will send some pictures home of that later.
Then we went on another 2 hour flight to Manila. Everyone says that you start to sweat the minute that you get off the plane, and I can testify that it is true. It is so humid here, and has been raining off and on since we got to the Manila mtc at 1:30 in the morning here.
Let me just say that there were many troubles along the way, but the Lord helped us every minute while we were traveling.
Well, I am alive and well, and ready to start the work.
We are actually going tracting today with the Tagalog missionaries, so we will see how that goes..
Love you all,
SIster Bibo
