How are things from the outside? I have been thinking about what to write about, there is so much that has happened in just three days.
I showed up at the MTC and met my companion, Sister Hussein, who is from Fiji. She has the coolest accent. When we first got here, we were given a yellow packet chocked full of books, pamphlets, and music.Right away our teachers spoke to us in Hiligaynon, and at first I was like(huh?) because it sounded like nothing I have ever heard before. Our district consists of Sister Duntsen from Layton, Sister Mitchell from Maine, Sister Key from Samoa, Sister Miigen from Logan, and one set of elders. I call them the Elders' T because they have basically the same name(what are the odds) Tunimoa(Fiji) and Tuimoa ( New Zealand). To describe Hiligaynon for all of you that are curious, imagine that a two year old typed on a keyboard with every other word has a g and you have Hiligaynon. for example, Kamusta ka(How are you ), Taga Diinka(where are you from). It's really hard just because it is so bizarre, but in time it will make more sense. So far we have prayed in the language and learned some basic phrases. Tonight we actually have to teach a lesson in the language to an investigator( AHHH(Kind of panicking). At times like this I wish that I was called to an English speaking mission, it would be soooooo much easier.
Fiji's temple is closed down right now, so we got to go to the temple today and get her endowment. The scary part is that I was the Escort, even though I have only been through the temple a total of three times. It was okay since we had help from the temple workers. The Provo temple is a beautiful place. It was wonderful to see how excited she was, and the spirit was so strong in the temple. We aren't allowed to take pictures of the temple until Sunday, so stay tuned for those.
You were right, Dad, the MTC is like a giant youth conference. We have devotionals and workshops when we aren't in language study. They actually had Elder Holland the day before I was here. I am so jealous, but there will be other apostles that come later.
I love to see you (the family) were so heartbroken that you had to go to the Asian buffet, but the MTC is like a MEGA Buffet. (A note for Collin), one of the best perks here is the amount of food available. They have all you can eat hamburgers, lasagna, Chinese, you name it, it's probably here on any given day.. I guess there's healthy stuff too, like fruit and wraps, but why bother :D. Collin's rule of when in doubt, take both totally applies here.
Almost out of time so one last thing, please sign me up for www.dearelder.com so that I can receive letters/emails everyday.Sorry out of time, I will get you photos next week; the computers don't like to read my card.
Love you all,
